About Women Powering Change
Our story begins with Founder Cynda Collins Arsenault, a peace and security activist and philanthropist who recognized the importance of fostering community amongst the women in Colorado that were leading change for and about women both locally and internationally and women looking to take purposeful action to address and solve the issues we face, socially, politically and culturally.
In 2013, Cynda hosted a garden party to showcase the work being done and to connect the two groups. The response was electric. Quickly the event outgrew Cynda’s backyard and she hosted a second event a year later at Denver’s Redline Art Gallery, with more than 500 people in attendance. Today our annual event welcomes nearly 1,000 attendees, in a space for connection, inspiration, and empowerment for all.
Women Powering change has been sustained through the commitment of volunteers that recognize the power and the potential of this event. We are also proud to be a founding partner of Week of Women Colorado with CBSColorado! Week of Women is a local initiative designed to celebrate women across the state and highlight the issues impacting them through a week of programming and events held by various organizations and community groups.
Women Powering Change Steering Committee
Meet this all volunteer group of women who bring you Women Powering Change!
Started by philanthropist Cynda Collins Arsenault as “Women’s Work, Wisdom and Wine” in 2013, Women Powering Change highlights the critical and necessary roles of women in creating a more sustainable, secure, and just world while connecting individuals with social change organizations.
The Convening Partners, who comprise the steering committee, are passionate women leaders from the community dedicated to supporting the advancement of women. Their ultimate goal is to accelerate the social impact of women creating a just world by engaging community members in the inspiring work being done locally and globally by women-centric organizations located in Colorado.
